Gretchen Goldman

Gretchen Goldman is President of the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS). A trained environmental engineer, she earned a BSc in Atmospheric Science from Cornell University and both an MS and PhD in Environmental Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. Before becoming President of UCS she served as Assistant Director for Environmental Science, Engineering, Policy and Justice at the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy and as Climate Change Research & Technology Director at the U.S. Department of Transportation in 2024. Throughout her career she has focused on scientific integrity, climate policy, environmental justice and the decarbonisation of transportation.
