Thales A. P. West

Thales A. P. West is an assistant professor at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and a Fellow of the Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance (C-EENRG) at the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on the sustainability of coupled human-natural systems, including environmental economics, climate governance, and payments for environmental services, especially carbon offsets and REDD+. Thales has actively contributed to key climate efforts, offering expert review for the IPCC and auditing REDD+ projects for Rainforest Alliance, bridging policy and science to advance global environmental governance.
