About Terra Tuscany

Set against the stunning backdrop of Tuscany, Terra Tuscany is not merely another conference but a transformative event dedicated to revolutionizing sustainability leadership. Held from 2nd to 4th September, this three-day gathering will occur at Villa Lena, between Pisa and Florence. Praised by VOGUE as a "dream vacation destination for barefoot luxury," this venue underscores our commitment to integrating sustainability into every aspect of the event.

In collaboration with illuminem, Terra Tuscany will bring together around 80 sustainability leaders, including Chief Sustainability Officers and Environmental Leaders, for an immersive experience fostering genuine connections and meaningful exchanges. The goal is to inspire, educate, and equip leaders with the tools and knowledge necessary to drive impactful sustainability initiatives within their organizations.

Protecting beauty: A summit at the heart of Italy’s environmental efforts

Tuscany, famous for its rolling hills, vibrant vineyards, and historic architecture, is a cultural and historical treasure and a region of significant environmental importance. The diverse ecosystems, from mountainous regions to coastal areas, support biodiversity crucial for ecological balance. The natural environment is deeply intertwined with the region's cultural identity, influencing local traditions, agriculture, and tourism.

Preserving Tuscany's environment cannot be overstated. The region's natural beauty drives substantial economic value through sustainable tourism and agriculture. Protecting these landscapes ensures the longevity of industries vital to Tuscany's economy. Additionally, preserving Tuscany's unique habitats is essential for maintaining biodiversity, including endemic species critical to the region's ecological health.

Current initiatives in Tuscany demonstrate the region's commitment to sustainability. Adopting the Agenda 2030 framework and the Regional Strategy for Sustainable Development are vital steps towards integrating environmental, economic, and social dimensions of sustainability into local policies. Efforts like promoting "green tourism" and sustainable agriculture practices minimise environmental impact and enhance Tuscany's reputation as a destination that values ecological integrity.

Choosing Villa Lena as the venue for Terra Tuscany directly reflects the region's commitment to sustainability. Powered by solar energy and supplied with local food, Villa Lena exemplifies the practical application of sustainable practices. This setting provides a beautiful and serene backdrop for the event and serves as a living model of how sustainability can be integrated into everyday life.

Pioneering sustainability leadership through practical insights

Hosting Terra Tuscany in this region is intentional. By holding the event here, participants can directly observe and learn from Tuscany's practical sustainability applications, from green tourism to eco-friendly agriculture.

Sessions and workshops

Terra Tuscany's agenda is designed to align the region's sustainability goals with the event's objectives. For instance, the masterclass on Sustainability Leadership, led by Nancy Mahon and Michael Kobori, will explore strategies that drive corporate sustainability while reflecting Tuscany's efforts in promoting a low-carbon economy and enhancing climate resilience. This session will provide attendees with actionable strategies to incorporate sustainability into their corporate practices inspired by the region's initiatives.

Panels and discussions

The panels and discussions at Terra Tuscany are closely connected with the region's sustainability efforts. Speakers such as Roberta Boscolo, Nancy Mahon, Michael Kobori, and Georg Kell will share their insights on integrating scientific knowledge with practical initiatives akin to Tuscany's approach to environmental preservation. These discussions will offer a comprehensive understanding of how sustainability can be seamlessly woven into business and community practices, mirroring the region's dedication to balancing development with environmental stewardship.

Networking and collaboration

A key reason for selecting Tuscany as the venue for this summit is the region's exemplary model of community involvement and sustainable practices. Terra Tuscany will leverage this by organizing small group discussions, informal networking sessions, and interactive panels that reflect the region's collaborative spirit. These sessions will enable attendees to engage in meaningful exchanges, similar to local initiatives involving community stakeholders in sustainability efforts.

Our call to action

Terra Tuscany is more than a typical conference; it is a call to action for sustainability leaders committed to making a difference in their organizations and the world. This event provides a unique platform for learning, networking, and collaboration by leveraging Tuscany's rich cultural and environmental heritage. Attendees will leave with the knowledge, connections, and inspiration needed to initiate meaningful change within their spheres of influence.
