Agrivoltaics: an opportunity to ensure agri-food systems resilience and energy access in rural areas
It is becoming increasingly evident how the demand for resources such as food, water and energy in the world is constantly increasing due to the growing global population. According to the World Population Prospects 2019 report, it is estimated that by 2050 the world's population will increase to approximately 9.8 billion, almost 2 billion more than today. By the same year, food production will have to grow by 70%, mainly by increasing yields to meet growing demand.
