In this official message shared with illuminem, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security of Italy recognizes the relevance of illuminem’s work within the country’s evolving sustainability landscape. Sent to us for the opening of our offices in Venice, the letter from the Vice-Minister highlights how innovation, the green transition, and youth-driven action, the core pillars of illuminem’s mission, support Italy’s environmental and economic future. It also explicitly describes illuminem as a “courageous and exemplary model for others to follow,” marking a strong sign of institutional recognition and the national importance of our work.
The Ministry’s Official Letter (Translated)
Dear All,
First of all, please accept my apologies for not being able to attend today due to prior institutional commitments. Nonetheless, it is with great pleasure that I welcome the inauguration of a journey that promises to be full of great successes.
Choosing Venice, already renamed the “world capital of sustainability,” as the venue and springboard for such an ambitious project dedicated to innovation, the environment, and energy, can only fill us with pride and satisfaction, confirming not only the mature awareness that the younger generations have of the green transition process, which must see us all responsible and at the forefront, but also Italy's leading role on the European and international stage.
I would like to congratulate this working group and the illuminem.com project for the many recognitions already received from esteemed evaluators.
I fully share the philosophy that guides your work: that innovation, sustainability, and job creation can go hand in hand. I am deeply convinced of this. It is the same principle that inspires my role as Deputy Minister at the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security.
We now have the opportunity to build a modern, prosperous, and dynamic future, provided that we reshape our political and cultural approach to change, recognizing the green transition as a major driver of growth for our country.
To be sustainable means having the courage to innovate, to imagine new pathways for development aligned with the environmental challenge that calls not only Italy, but the entire international community, to action.
Italy is rising to this challenge, setting an example on many fronts and meeting EU targets well ahead of time. This reflects the resilience of our economic fabric, our companies, and the many innovative start-ups like yours, which show that we are already fully engaged in this process.
The role of institutions is to assist and support you, accompanying you whenever needed, not only financially, but above all by improving the regulatory and bureaucratic framework, which is too often a source of complexity and delay.
Let me be clear, as I have stated on several occasions: simplify, simplify, simplify. We have the duty to place our economic and social systems in the best possible conditions to act, speeding up processes, streaming procedures, and making life easier for businesses and citizens. This is the key to doing things well and doing them quickly.
With these words, I extend my best wishes for your work. May this remarkable initiative achieve great success and become a courageous and exemplary model for others to follow.
