🗞️ Driving the news: The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) says nature-related reporting and risk assessment are accelerating across global financial markets
• More than 1,000 organisations across 56 countries have now published some level of TNFD-aligned nature-related disclosure, double the number reported a year earlier
🔭 The context: More than 800 organisations, representing $26.6 trillion in assets under management, are now TNFD Adopters
• The report also found that 76% of respondents are undertaking LEAP assessments, while 59% of investors rank nature among their top three sustainability priorities
• However, the report highlights a gap between growing disclosure and the actual deployment of capital toward nature-related investments
🌍 Why it matters for the planet: Nature loss can undermine ecosystems and the economic activities that depend on them, from agriculture and water resources to supply chains
• Greater financial assessment of nature-related dependencies and impacts could help direct capital toward protecting and restoring those systems
⏭️ What’s next: Standardisation is emerging as a priority: more than 70% of respondents want greater consistency in mandatory nature-related reporting, with most favouring implementation within the next one to three years
• TNFD argues that stronger policy support and comparable disclosures are needed to move from assessment toward action
💬 One quote: “Nature loss is a financial risk and nature resilience is essential to business resilience,” said TNFD Senior Adviser Paul Polman
📈 One stat: $26.6 trillion — the assets under management represented by financial institutions among the 800+ organisations identified as TNFD Adopters
