Powering the world: how much energy will the world need?
The availability of abundant fossil fuels, as well as the development of technologies to extract and exploit them, was one of the determining factors in the emergence of our industrial society. Global energy consumption increased by a factor of 28 between 1800 and 2019, and accelerated even more during the 20th century, with an almost sixfold increase between 1950 and 2019. Given past trends, a question rises about how this past trend will continue (or not) in the future. This is the question that Zenon Research has studied in its latest report.
